"Staycation"

As our overseas trip was postponed we decided to still take out leave and enjoy a staycation at home. Here are a few projects I have finished but have not posted here. Above is the Sunday Best Vest, a childs vest pattern by Sophie McKane. This is a free pattern and here is the link to the pattern on Raverly:  sunday best vest

This cowl is called the Joyful Cowl and was a quick and easy knit using stash yarn. The link to the pattern for the Joyful Cowl is here. This pattern was designed by Heather Anderson.

The light n' lacey cardigan was crocheted in 8ply yarn. The pattern came from a magazine called Knitted Creations and was a design by Sirdar.

I am currently working on the Zippety Shawl by Ambah O'Brien. Ambah is having a year long knit- along using any of her patterns in her Raverly group. Here is the link to the Zippety Shawl

I am using these yarns

and have only just started

I am also working on a new crochet blanket design I hope to have out soon.

This recipe has been popping up on facebook so I thought I would give it a go. These yeast free dinner rolls are quick and easy to make and are delicious so here is the recipe for you.

Mumma Easy No Yeast Dinner Rolls

1 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons mayonnaise

Combine all ingredients, spoon into a greased muffin pan, makes approx. 5 rolls. Cook in a 180 degree oven for 15 minutes or till done and golden brown.

Lots of Finishing

I have a few projects that have been finished for awhile that I would like to share.

The Warm Autumn Cardigan which is a free DROP design pattern was a very quick knit. I used Cascade Yarn Eco+ in the colourway 5564. The yarn is very soft and100% Peruvian Highland wool, so does pill quite a bit.

Next up I finished my Selbu Modern Hat a pattern by Kate Gagnon Osborn. The yarns I used were some old Patons Bluebell 5ply I had in a soft grey and a rich purple. I enjoyed working on this and love how the pattern has worked up in these colours with the deep contrasts.

The crown detailing is lovely.

Another garment off the needles is my Miette Cardigan. A free pattern by Andi Satterlund. I love her designs and would like to make this one again and have several more in mind. I used some yarn I had on a cone, I think it was a wool/acrylic blend and had been in my stash for a very long time.

Some fingerless mitts in 4ply and two colour colourwork, what was I thinking, yes these did take a while to finish. The Love Squared Gauntlets is a pattern by Andi Smith.

Well I thinks that's all from me for now.

Happy Crafting.

My Latest Design and Blogiversary Giveaway

I have just released my latest design Waverley Beach Cowl which can be purchased here

Inspiration for this design came from many childhood days spent at the beach watching the waves crashing against the rocky shoreline.

Its an easy project knit in the round and I used Bendigo Woollen Mills Classic 8ply which gives lovely stitch definition.

Wow I can't believe its been a year since I started this blog - infrequent blogger that I am. But that can only lead to improvement - right.

I do enjoy sharing my creative passions and would love to know what your creative pursuits are.
What do you love to knit or crochet, sew or whatever?

Leave me a comment below and I will draw a winner to receive a copy of my latest pattern design the Waverley Beach Cowl to celebrate my one year milestone into the blogging world.

I have also finished Serenity by Rachel Booker. This was an enjoyable shawl to knit and I have included a link for the free pattern for you here

Also off the needles are the anklet socks I was making for my daughter. The pattern was from Knitpicks  - Fancy Feet Anklets  by Kerin Dimeler-Laurence - here is the pattern link.

I made the Monday version with a feather and fan pattern on the front.

I will leave you with Lucy who loves to sleep in my empty pots.

New Design Release

I have just released a new design - Cockatoo Mist Shawl which is available to purchase here
Cockatoo Mist Shawl price $5.00.

The inspiration for this asymmetrical shawl came from watching winter sunsets through the fog and mist.

I would like to thank my daughter Hannah McLaren from Hannah McLaren Photography for her wonderful photos. She is an awesome photographer I have provided a link above if you would like to see some of her work.

I would also like to thank my beautiful granddaughter Laylah who named and kindly modelled the shawl for me.

This is a fun knit using 4ply or 5ply. I just used yarns from my stash and there would be endless colour combinations you could use to create one your own.
